Wednesday, November 23, 2022 – This past weekend, John Henkels, VP and COO of ICONIX Waterworks US, laced up his skates for the second straight year to take the ice at the CAN Pro-Am event. The CAN Pro-Am event brings together corporate teams and NHL alumni for an unforgettable weekend of hockey in support of Canucks Autism Network (CAN). The weekend includes a draft night where teams select a former NHL player to be on their team, followed by a two-day tournament where teams go head-to-head in some friendly competition. “What an incredible weekend for ICONIX and the CAN organization. Eighteen former NHLers participated in the tournament this year with an incredible team turn out as well. My team, The Constructors, won the tournament for the second year in a row, by bringing in the most donations (more than $130,000). As the winners, we were treated like All-Stars ourselves – we had our own private locker room with individual stalls and custom name plates (just like the pros). We also enjoyed a players’ lounge and spent time with some of the pros. It is hard to explain to someone the gratitude and the humbling experience this weekend brings. These pros are remarkable ambassadors to the NHL as they make themselves available all weekend long. The graciousness and patience they displayed with fans is just incredible. I am truly humbled to be a part of this incredible charity and am looking forward to next year already! Thank You In total, the ICONIX team brought in over $27,000 through our partners and individual donors. Thank you to our valued partners – Galaxy Plastics, Terminal City Iron Works, ADS, and Westlake Pipe & Fittings – for your generous support. Fun Fact Glenn Laufer, Controller at ICONIX, was one of the founding CAN board members that helped start the charity years ago. About Canucks Autism Network (CAN): Founded in 2008 by Vancouver Canucks co-owners, Paolo and Clara Aquilini, Canucks Autism Network (CAN) is dedicated to providing programs to individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC and beyond.
